The Debtor's 7 Options Help
The Help links on the right are to Money Claims Online's help pages.  You will find more detailed guidance in respect of all these options in Our Layman's Guide to Judgment within our members's site.
Pay In Full Help
Ensure the cheque clears before you stop your claim.
Make A Full Admission Help
Usually coupled with a request for time to pay. Don't use the 'Agreement' option for this. That only applies to pre-acton agreements.  You must either accept the offer online (and enter judgment for the debt to be paid by agreed installments) or you must dispute the offer for stated reasons on Form N225 (link online) and send it to the Court.  The fact the debt is a commercial debt is usually reason enough to reject the offer. However if the debor is in financial trouble it may pay to accept his proposal or make a counter proposal on Form N225 nd let the Judge decide installments.
Make A Part Admission Help
You have to either accept the admitted sum in final satisfaction of your claim and enter judgment online for it, or, if you do not accept it, say so and the claim will be treated as disputed.  If the claim is disputed instruct us to advise you as to your options.
File Acknowledgement of Service Help
Filing this can buy the Debtor another 14 days in which to file a defence but he has to commit himslef to admitting or denying your claim in full or in part (or disputing the jurisdiction typically because the claim is covered by an arbitration agreement or should be brought abroad).
File A Defence Help
If the Debt is disputed instruct us to appraise the dispute.  If it is a nonsense we can draft an application for you to deal with it summarily.  If it has substance (even if you disagree with it) we wll appraise its merits and advise you how to proceed.
File A Counterclaim Help
The same applies as with filing a defence but NB - If you do not file your counterclaim on time the Debtor may enter judgment for his counterclaim against you in default of defence to counterclaim. It can cost a lot to get this set aside so if you have a counterclaim instruct us immediately and mention the fact it concerns a counterclaim in the Subject Matter of your e-mail so we can prioritize it.
Ignore The Claim Help
If the Debtor ignores your claim you just enter judgment against him online as shown in the next side tab.
